About me

Hi, my name is Lucy and I am addicted to yarn! I love to crochet and knit and am never too far from some yarn and my trusty hooks and needles.

I live in Rugby, England, with my husband and two young children. I was taught to knit when I was just eight years old by my mum but really started to become passionate about all things yarn related when I had my first child and started to make baby blankets, hats and toys for her. I took up crochet when my second child was born and discovered a whole new way to play with yarn.

In 2016 I started an Instagram account @melly.elly.crochet to share pictures of my new hobby and make new friends. I have always loved coming up with my own designs and would often get asked what pattern I had used, so I thought I'd start writing my patterns down and share them with others via a Facebook page and Etsy store. I've always wanted to have a go at writing a blog for my crochet so that I can share my passion with others in more detail and in 2021 I have taken the plunge and started my very first crochet blog.  I hope you enjoy it!

' A Little Bit of Happiness' Crochet Project - To Chase Away the Winter Blues Every year I really struggle during January and February with season affective disorder and tend to lose my crojo, which usually brings me so much comfort and joy. I didn't intend to make a blanket, I started out by trying a granny square and thought, this is fun, and just kept on going.
